About Aga Khan Foundation East Africa
In East Africa, AKF operates a multi-sectoral portfolio that includes programming in Education,
Work and Inclusion, Civil Society, Health, and Early Childhood Development, with Gender
Equality as a cross cutting theme in the portfolio. AKF responds to local and regional priorities by
developing and implementing effective programming, measuring, and documenting results and
sharing lessons with governments, donors, and development actors to influence policy and
practice.
Summary of Position
The key objective of this position is to support the AKF East Africa team in creating a
communications strategy, identifying and supporting in the collection of stories, and developing
communication products for each country that align with key thematic priorities as well as with
national government policies.
Responsibilities
a. Develop a comprehensive communications strategy that aligns with AKF East Africa's mission,
values, and strategic goals.
b. Identify and select relevant and impactful stories that align with the communications strategy.
c. Support in the collection of necessary information, interviews, and materials to develop
engaging stories.
d. Assist in the creation and development of storytelling materials, including written content,
visual assets, and multimedia elements.
e. Enhance the overall capacity of staff in communications through training and knowledge
sharing.
Required Qualifications & Experience
We are looking for a candidate who has:
• Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or a related field
• Minimum 2 years relevant experience in communications creating digital and print content
• Knowledge of desktop publishing software (InDesign/Photoshop) is highly desirable
• Excellent verbal and written skills.

Language
English proficiency required. Swahili language skills an asset.
