ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

Numida is a fast-growing Ugandan fintech company that is building the digital products and services that African small businesses need to thrive. Our first product is a financial management app that enables Ugandan entrepreneurs to keep good records, make better decisions and access convenient and unsecured credit. Entrepreneurs use the app to keep track of their cash flows and we use the cash flow and financial management behavioral data to determine their creditworthiness and issue loans via mobile money.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Product Manager to enhance our offering to Ugandan small businesses. The ideal candidate has previous experience managing product development in a fast-paced and dynamic tech. startup. Your role will be three-fold, 1) Deeply understand Numida’s clients 2) Learn what new products they want, and 3) bring those products to fruition by working directly with Numida’s engineering and design teams.

Specific Responsibilities

- Develop product strategy and roadmaps for new features that will drive increased adoption and engagement of our financial management Android application within Ugandan small businesses.
- Along with engineering leadership, develop appropriate planning, prioritization, and release management processes to launch new features
- Execute against plan by managing Numida’s design team towards clear objectives and outcomes and by interacting with Numida’s clients regularly
- Prioritize product enhancements based on extension in-field user research to ensure that Numida does not build products no one will use.
- Manage the rollout of beta programs and the onboarding of both new and existing Numida clients during beta tests
- Thoroughly document client feedback, and communicate regularly with Numida’s CTO on the results of beta tests and product development needs
- Critically analyze before and after usage results to determine if new features are actually increasing engagement with Numida
- Work with the design team to develop client personas and client journeys that enable Numida to effectively anticipate future product development needs

QUALIFICATIONS

First and foremost you must believe in the power of developing world small businesses to create jobs, pay taxes, and drive development and poverty reduction in their communities.

Key Requirements:

- An intense curiosity and relentless desire to understand Numida’s clients and see their businesses grow
- Ideally prior product management experience building and maintaining mobile products for small businesses (either in the developed or developing world)
- An eagerness to be out of the office interacting deeply with Numida’s clients
- Natural talent for mediating competing interests and finding creative solutions
- Great track record of working with engineering and design teams in a tech startup
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills, and an ability to thrive in ambiguity
- Working knowledge of SQL a bonus
