Brief Description:

During your International Internship, you’ll be working with our awesome partner WWF. World Wildlife Fund Gabon works on sustainable management of forests, integrated landscape management, and community-based management. WWF Gabon’s works primarily at two priority sites: the forest landscape in northeastern Gabon, as well as the coastal landscape of the Gamba Protected Area Complex (GPAC) in the south.

Responsibilities will include:

Develop and implement a strategic communications and advocacy plan to achieve key objectives related to biodiversity conservation and sustainable development in Gabon.
Conduct outreach to members of the government of Gabon, biodiversity conservation and sustainable development experts and regional and international NGO representatives, and private sector.
Develop and implement specific strategies and tactics for outreach to policymakers, potential advocates, and other stakeholders in the public, NGO, and commercial sectors.
Work to position and integrate the project into existing public, NGO, and commercial sector coalitions (as appropriate), and manage coalition relationships in collaboration with the in-country Director.
Closely coordinate media and advocacy activities to support the overall program plan.
Contribute to develop annual work plans, budgets, reports & document case studies and success stories.
Travelling as required to Gambia and Libreville in support of the advocacy strategy.

Skills and Experience:

Master’s Degree candidate in political sciences, communications, law or social science.
French fluency required.
Background in environment and/or biodiversity conservation preferred.
Possess experience in designing and implementing advocacy programs.
Have experience working in government, NGO, private sector and donors as well as coalition partners.
Possess a good work ethic.
Be a team player and collaborative worker.
Good interpersonal relationship skills.
Possess some knowledge of the non-profit sector.
Be highly organized, capable of multi- tasking, and working under time pressure.
Have at least basic presentation skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly PowerPoint.
Excellent time management abilities and organization skills.
Be a self-starter capable of working independently.
Departure date: May 5, 2019
