Red Cross Short Talks: Innovation in the Last Mile
Event Details
Innovation in the Last Mile is an event bringing together new, bold ideas with individuals and organizations who are working to reduce suffering and maintain human dignity in humanitarian settings.
This short-talks event features speakers, videos and performances about the work of humanitarians reaching some of the most vulnerable and marginalized people in the world, including those in remote locations or living in areas of conflict, and those facing social exclusion, insecurity and economic barriers. More than just reaching these people, we’ll discuss how we can support existing resilience and build on local capacities in these communities.
Hear stories from an entrepreneur who is using solar-powered water infrastructure to address extreme hunger and poverty in rural Africa; a researcher who is working to bring prevention and protection strategies to Indigenous communities in Canada; and a social entrepreneur who is working in partnership with affected communities and leveraging technology to support people displaced by conflict and climate change.
Innovation is key in reaching people impacted by disaster and conflict. Innovation in the Last Mile creates a space to share and learn about how Canadians are making an impact at home and around the world through innovation.
