Brief Description:
Young Professionals are a major focus of the Women Spaces Project, especially as it relates to enabling implementing partners achieve the project objectives. The Women’s Spaces project is contributing to the enhanced implementation of women’s equitable rights to and control over land, housing, and livelihoods in urban environments in Angola, Kenya, South Africa, and Uganda. Women’s Spaces is being implemented by Rooftops Canada and local partners. The project is aligned with Canada’s Agenda 2030 commitments, its Feminist International Assistance Policy (FIAP), and is financially supported by Global Affairs Canada (GAC).
Through the Women’s Spaces project, the Mazingira Institute (MI) is collaborating with the Nairobi City County to enhance women’s livelihoods in urban agriculture and food security. The Digital Research Officer will work on the digital research database system developed by MI as part of the Women’s Spaces Project (WSP). This system, known as the Urban Agriculture and Food System Database, consists of two components: a mobile phone application and a web platform. Data is collected using the mobile phone application and uploaded to the web-based database for storage, automatic analysis, and report generation and presentation. The objective of this digital database is to improve data collection, analysis, presentation, and interpretation, thereby promoting data access for policy makers, researchers, and other stakeholders. This will facilitate research and policy action on urban agriculture and food system activities in Nairobi. The Digital Research Officer will provide strategic support to the objectives of the project in Mazingira Institute.
