During your International Internship, you’ll be working with our awesome partner EDC. Education Development Center (EDC) is a global nonprofit that advances lasting solutions to improve education, promote health, and expand economic opportunity. Since 1958, EDC has been a leader in designing, implementing, and evaluating powerful and innovative programs in more than 80 countries around the world.
During your International Internship, you’ll be working with our awesome partner Worldreader. Worldreader is a global nonprofit organization on a mission to create a world where everyone is a reader. Their West Africa hub is centered in Accra, Ghana, and home to nine full-time employees and numerous volunteers. Worldreader Ghana is proud to work with more than 25 Ghanaian publishers, and to date, they have digitized over 405 Ghanaian books in 6 languages including English, Akuapem-Twi, Éwé, Twi-Akan, Fante and Ga. They are currently working in 74 schools and 6 community libraries in Ghana and have impacted the lives of over 25,000 active readers by providing 8,419 devices and delivering over 1 million books.
To build capacity of our local partners and leverage digital reading as an education strategy, Worldreader organizes a yearly Digital Reading Summit involving local and regional publishers, authors, government officials, and local and international NGOs that implement education and technology programs.
The primary responsibility of the Regional Event Coordination Officer is to support the successful execution of the annual Digital Reading Summit and any related regional events.
What you’ll do:
Public Relations and Communications
With the global communications team:
coordinate and implement the Summit social media strategy;
assemble the press packet and collateral for local media;
support all speaker, panelist, and guest communications.
Serve as an ambassador of Worldreader’s brand and mission.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth execution of events.
Event Management
Coordinate the construction and execution of the Summit’s event plan.
Track, analyze, and report on the event plan timelines and key milestones.
Serve as the primary contact for the event management company.
Coordinate event logistics, including registration and attendee tracking, presentation and materials support and pre- and post-event evaluations.
Manage inventory of backdrops, projectors, computers, and other Summit display materials.
You’ll fit right in if you have:
Highly organized, motivated self-starter with previous experience in event planning.
Strong project management skills – proven ability to handle multiple projects and priorities within agreed timelines and budgets.
Prior position in customer service desirable.
Proficient in Google Suite, MS Office, and other collaboration tools and software.
Strong attention to detail, organizational planning, time management, and multi-tasking abilities.
