Brief Description:

World Renew, an agency of the Christian Reformed Church in North America (CRCNA), has a full time, time-bound opportunity for a Project Assistant based in Arua, Uganda.

As the Project Assistant - Donor Reporting and Communications you will work to ensure that various reports are drafted in a timely manner and that the impact of interventions are effectively communicated to World Renew’s constituents and donors. You will work closely with local partners and the World Renew project teams, ensuring effective and inclusive processes are put in place to develop reports. You will work with existing M&E tools, systems and methods to improve the quality and timeliness of World Renew reporting. The Project Assistant will report to the Program Consultant in the East Africa Ministry Team.

Please note that this is a 8-month contract opportunity, with a possibility of extension

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Travel to project locations to work alongside project teams in preparing reports
As requested, support the production of timely and accurate narrative reports
a. Work with project team cycle to ensure necessary information is being captured
b. Develop simplified reporting templates to assist in accurate and timely data capture
To assist with the design and planning of community resilience programming by supporting the information gathering and proposal writing
As identified, based on the skills set of the incumbent, strengthen the capacity of partner and World Renew staff through coaching and practical training on relevant technical skills (e.g. excel, presentations, IT, etc)
Write human interest stories for World Renew communications (and donor communication)
Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

Exceptional writing abilities

Advanced computer skills with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office
Excellent organizational skills; demonstrated self-starting, planning and implementation skills, as well as an ability to successfully multitask and prioritize
Critical thinking skills, ability to analyze a situation to determine needs, brainstorm possibilities and/or create opportunities, problem solve and/or generate solutions, develop recommendations or make decisions
Highly effective team work skills with the ability to build good relations both internally and externally
Skills of persuasion, influence, negotiation, planning, reporting and analysis
Familiarity with the Christian Reformed Church and/or the Canadian Foodgrains Bank community is an asset

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, International Development, Community Development or another related discipline
A minimum of one year cross-cultural work experience in a development or disaster response environment including writing reports and communication material

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must be fluent in English and able to communicate proficiently both verbally and in writing. Working knowledge of French is required.

The incumbent, in this position, will travel to remote locations where running water and electricity are uncertain. The road conditions are rough and the temperature can reach the high 40s. In addition, the Project Assistant may potentially live in a remote location which will require diligent self-care and stress management.
