Brief Description:

This placement will help contribute to the Women’s Spaces Project with a focus on the capacity building of local authorities, community and women’s organizations to co-produce land maps and data, and co-manage customary, social and informal land tenure, using participatory land management tools. These tools will be customized and shared with other project stakeholders. The Project will further embed the protection of gender equal land rights into these tools and will scale them up through the national governments’ land tenure program, while assisting the ministry responsible for the promotions of women’s right to meet its gender equality objective. The GIS Officer will help assist the DWA GIS specialist to upgrade the SAGIT (Sistema Angolano de Gestão de Informação Territorial) software, adapted from the STDM software for strengthening gender tenure and related training materials to further embed gender equality through collection of appropriate data, and respond to the local context.

Rooftops Canada – Abri International is seeking a qualified candidate to participate in our 6-month Young Professionals (YP) Overseas Placement Program as part of our five-year project “Women’s Spaces: Implementing Equal rights to Land, Housing and Livelihoods”.
This program is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents, 19-35 years of age with a completed degree or diploma by May 2023.
