Position Summary
Join the YCI Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) team to help measure and report on the impact of the HerStart Innovate the Future program. Apply your data collection, analysis and reporting skills to the critical topics of women’s empowerment, climate action and social entrepreneurship, further building a culture of learning amongst staff, partners and participants. This is an opportunity to strengthen your CV with hands-on monitoring, evaluation and organizational learning experience. In the process, advance your knowledge on pivotal frameworks that are shaping the future of work and community impact globally.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
– Actively engage in learning opportunities on thematic topics including social entrepreneurship, climate action and gender equality
– Assist the YCI MEL Lead and Knowledge and Learning Managers with adaptation and implementation of monitoring and evaluation tools, including training surveys
– Produce analyses of programmatic data, including forming recommendations and actionable insights to inform program design and organizational learning
– Contribute to the drafting and editing of accessible research reports, summaries and presentations
– Support effective measurement of the social impact of program participants, small businesses, and partners
– Conduct literature reviews and desk research on key topics to support program activities
– Support organizational learning and capacity strengthening with local staff and partners on MEL systems, strategies and processes
– Further build out the HerStart Toolkit and fellowship databases

Desired Qualifications
– Experience within monitoring and evaluation and/or research fields
– Experience and interest in interview-based data collection, survey design and implementation, data analysis and reporting
– Strong research, data management and communications skills
– Passion for learning and supporting the knowledge and skill development of others
– Tech-savvy with knowledge of diverse platforms and interest in learning new ones (including Excel, Slack, Airtable, and Mighty Networks)
– Experience with SPSS, R or Python will be considered an asset
– Strong organization, teamwork and time management skills
– Ability to be proactive, flexible and take initiative
– For Tanzania positions: Interest and willingness to learn basic Swahili
– Committed to working with others in an equitable and ethical manner
– Ability to effectively collaborate with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes openness to differing opinions and views

Eligibility Requirements
– Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
– Must have fluent or professional level English skills (written and verbal)
– Demonstrate interest in the fields of international development, gender equality, climate action and/or social entrepreneurship
– Enrolled in or graduated from a post-secondary institution (or have equivalent work experience)
– Ability to commit to full length of placement, including pre and post training
– Access to a personal computer for duration of placement
