Social Innovation Challenge

Event Details

Interested in humanitarian aid work? Have ideas for responding to crises around the world? Join us on January 27 for the Canadian Red Cross Social Innovation Challenge!

Led by the Youth Advisory Committee, the Social Innovation Challenge will allow teams of 3 – 5 to present their solution to a current humanitarian challenge. The challenge will focus on the current Myanmar refugee crisis and mass population movements.
Teams can register to attend an in-person event in Toronto, Vancouver or Calgary, or register to compete online. The challenge is open to individuals aged 18 – 30 of all educational backgrounds and levels of expertise.

The challenge will be in two rounds. Round one will see groups present in their location, or submit a video presentation if they compete remotely, to a team of experts who will select a winning team for each area (Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary and online). These four groups will have two weeks to make changes to their challenge, and then will submit a video presentation to a team of experts at our national office.

Prizes:
1. The winning team in each location (Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary) and online will win a lunch and learn with a Canadian Red Cross humanitarian to discuss their solution and make changes
2. The ultimate winning team selected by our panel of experts at our national office will receive:
a. A free course for each team member from Humanitarian U
b. A mentorship opportunity with a Canadian Red Cross humanitarian
c. Your solution on the Canadian Red Cross blog
