Preparing for the Food and Nutrition Security Impacts of COVID 19

Event Details

FAO North America and Care Canada Present: Preparing for the Food and Nutrition Security Impacts of COVID 19 – Stakeholder perspectives from the front lines of the food and nutrition security response to Covid-19, in Canada and around the world.

COVID-19 is anticipated to have significant medium- and long-term impacts on global food and nutrition security, livelihoods, climate resilience, gender equality, trade and social stability.

Canadian international assistance organizations are busily pivoting programs to mitigate COVID’s impacts, and to scale-up solutions, in poor, vulnerable and fragile states, at the same time as agri-food industry and thought-leaders in Canada are advocating for policies and programs to minimize disruptions on domestic food systems and global supply chains.

The Government Canada’s commitment to help lead international efforts to protect food availability and leadership in the context of COVID-19 provides fertile ground to bring Canadian stakeholders together, to exchange priorities and perspectives, and to foster collaboration and awareness in support of a coherent, made-in-Canada approach to the promotion of global food and nutrition security in the context of COVID-19.

This event will be conducted primarily in English. We will do our best to accommodate questions and comments in French.
