The Volunteer’s Role
The Partnership Development Advisor will play an important role in supporting the Cuso International team in Nigeria in carrying out research, identifying and supporting efforts of the country office to build sustainable partnerships with potential Cuso International supporters. The research and relationship building should include institutional donors, corporate foundations, philanthropy organizations and the private sector. The information that will be collected and compiled will inform the country office in developing project concepts and proposals, which donor to approach and how to approach them. It will also feed into the development of the Cuso International funding strategy for Nigeria.
The Nigeria program has 2 projects, the VOICE project due to end in March 2020 and the YouLead Project due to end in March 2019. This necessitates the urgent need to identify and build these partnerships with potential donors to increase our chances of funding for the programs of the country office. The main areas of focus will be on our Goal areas 2 and 3 which are improving access to and quality of economic opportunities for young people and advancing gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls respectively. Other current priorities for the country include the development of new programs/project proposals and securing funding for new programs that would benefit the poor and marginalized communities, particularly the women and youth to increase its chances to access quality economic opportunities.
