Brief Description:

The YMCA of Greater Toronto’s International Youth Internship Program (IYIP), funded by Global Affairs Canada, offers Canadian youth (ages 18–30) the chance to gain hands-on international work experience. Interns support community-based projects aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, while building professional, cross-cultural, and language skills. The program includes a 4-month placement abroad and 3 months of post-internship employment support.

We are currently accepting applications for the following placements:
1 Placement – YMCA of Togo (French-speaking required)
Based in Lomé, the YMCA of Togo is a community-focused organization that works to empower youth and strengthen civil society through leadership development, economic empowerment, and climate education. Interns will contribute to programs such as youth civic engagement and leadership training, entrepreneurship and economic development initiatives and environmental and climate education activities

2 Placements – YMCA of Sierra Leone
The YMCA of Sierra Leone engages youth through education, employment programs, peacebuilding, and civic action. Interns will support a range of initiatives that may include youth empowerment and vocational skills training, community development and outreach, and environmental sustainability and health promotion.

Online pre-departure training: August 11–16, 2025
Departure: August 16, 2025
Return: December 16, 2025
Total program length: 7 months
4 months in-person internship abroad
3 months of post-placement activities and career development (January–March 2026)
