Duties and Tasks:
Financial Management:
• Oversee local and global program budgets
• Verify local program financial results on a quarterly, semi-annual, and annual basis
• Work in collaboration with local program partners to prepare, upload and maintain accurate and complete financial reports with required back up documentation
• Collaborate with local program partners to resolve financial issues and assess and address financial risks
• Prepare variance explanations and regular financial forecasts for quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reviews providing updates to management on issues and risks
• Hold local partners accountable for managing resources efficiently
Donor Reporting:
• Prepare donor reports, ensuring high quality financial and narrative reports are submitted completed on time
• Educate local program partners on donor guidelines and requirements
• Monitoring programs for compliance to donor requirements and rules
Monitoring and Evaluation:
• Willing to travel internationally to evaluate programs using Results-Based Management approach
• Develop and cultivate good working relationships with local partners
• Conduct interview-based and online data collection - survey design and implementation, data analysis and reporting to assess results of the programs
• Assist in the development of monitoring and evaluation tools, including training and surveys
• Produce analysis of programmatic data, including forming recommendations and actionable insights to improve program design and effectiveness and organizational learning
• Contribute to preparing research reports, summaries, and presentations of the program’s results
• Provide guidance and maintain frequent communications with program partners
• Hold local partners accountable for timely submission of reports
Desired Qualifications:
• Strong project management skills to monitor projects results, costs and timelines and identify and address challenges and risks
• Strong project financial management and financial analysis skills
• Experience with monitoring and evaluation and Results-Based Management approach
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to develop strong working relationships across cultural and organizational boundaries with many stakeholders
• Ability to work within tight deadlines and time pressures
• Detail-orientated to maintain organized and accurate records and reports
• Strong IT skills with intermediate skills in MS Excel
• Ability to travel internationally to Sub-Saharan Africa
Eligibility Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in related field
• Minimum 3 years experience and direct field experience in international development setting
• Strong preference for candidates with project management experience in the NGO sector with DFATD -funded projects or Certificate in Project Management
• Knowledge of DFATD policies and procedures and Results-Based Management approach
• Demonstrated project financial management experience
• Knowledge of gender equity principles and practises
• Working experience in Ethiopia, Uganda and Rwanda will be considered a highly desirable asset
