The E-Volunteer’s Role

The Cuso International Office in Honduras has established an agreement to collaborate with the Secretaría de Agricultura y Ganadería (Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock) and other Canadian-funded projects (such as SOCODEVI) in order to develop a gender policy for the entire agricultural, rural and livestock sector in Honduras.

The agricultural, rural and livestock sector of Honduras had an active policy that lasted until 2015. Therefore, four years have passed since rural women and workers have had access to a policy that assures their equitable involvement in decision-making positions. In order to write an update gender policy for the sector, we must first conduct an analysis of the situation and identify gender gaps for employed women in the ministry and also the rural sectors. This first step will be supported by an e-volunteer such as you!

We are seeking an e-volunteer to develop an online survey to gather information and opinions from the target demographics. This survey will be sent to all the employees of the ministry to gather information about their knowledge about gender and evaluate their perspective about the inequalities that women face in the sector.

As an e-volunteer, you will:

-Develop an online survey to obtain the required information.

-Add graphics (infographics and/or photos) (if possible) to the survey to make it more appealing to the employees.

-Assist in conducting an analysis of the results and cross-examining variables.

Essential Academic Qualifications:

-A degree, or currently studying towards a degree in Communications or a related field.

Essential Professional Background:

-Previous experience with developing survey questions and formatting.

-Proven document graphic design skills.

-Experience analyzing, evaluating and categorizing survey results.

Desirable Qualifications:

-Knowledge of gender policy is a desired skill but is not mandatory.

- An intermediate or higher level of Spanish is an asset to this placement

About E-Volunteering

Cuso International’s e-volunteering program welcomes new and returning volunteers to work with our international program partners and volunteers remotely. E-Volunteering offers many of the benefits gained from international volunteering, while having the extra advantage of fitting into one's regular weekly schedule without needing a passport. Contributing and giving back to a community, gaining new skills, and making new connections are common benefits of e-volunteering and for Cuso International it is a great opportunity to engage more people in its mission.

E-Volunteers are expected to supply their own basic home office equipment, Internet and have a moderate knowledge of computer technology. Some of our partners are located in remote areas with unreliable internet connection. In addition, for some of our partners, this is their first experience working with e-volunteers so flexibility and patience is a valuable e-volunteer characteristic.

E-Volunteers spend approximately 3-4 months in a placement and spend 2-10 hours per week working as an e-volunteer depending on the project requirements.
