Title: Administrative Assistant - Monitoring and Evaluation (Summer Jobs Program)

Type: Temporary (up to 8 weeks), Full-time (35 hours per week)

Location: Flexible (Remote – BC, NS, ON, SK)

Salary: $15.50 per hour or relevant provincial minimum wage (whichever is higher)

About this Opportunity

Canadian Feed the Children (“CFTC”) has a Canada Summer Jobs opening from July 10th, 2023, to September 1st, 2023 (up to 8 weeks) for a detail-oriented, collaborative and organized applicant. As a Monitoring and Evaluation Administrative Assistant, you will provide support on program data aggregation, analysis and reporting. You may also support on data system management and data visualization. The goal of this work will be to present program data in an accessible format so that it can be used internally to improve the quality of CFTC programs and to share back with donors about the impact of the programs. In this role, you may also provide support to the program team based on interest and need or administrative support to other departments at CFTC.

This position is made possible largely due to the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) grant, an initiative of the Summer Work Experience program. One of the priorities of the program is to support employers who intend to hire youth in underrepresented groups. Preference for this position will be given to an applicant who self-identifies as being part of an underrepresented group:

Indigenous youth
Visible minorities/ racialized youth
Newcomer/refugee youth
To be eligible, a participant must:

Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment;
Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and;
Be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.

Responsibilities:

Support the review of semi-annual program partner reports and annual plans
Assist with data aggregation and analysis from program partner reports
Develop data visualizations and dashboards for dissemination of data
Support the review of M&E components of project proposals (Logic Model, Performance Measurement Framework)
Support data system management
Assist with the development of organizational monitoring and evaluation tools and templates
Provide Administrative support to the program department at CFTC
May perform other duties as necessary or assigned.

Qualifications:

Enrollment in or completion of a degree in international development, development studies, evaluation or related field.
Knowledge of program monitoring and evaluation, qualitative or quantitative data analysis and data visualization.
Strong technical skills with MS Office suite including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience with Power Bi an asset.
Competence with online video conferencing and chat platforms.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong ability to work independently and effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to build rapport, effectively listen, reflect, and respond while making a value-added contribution to CFTC.
An approach that is flexible, adaptive, creative and always looking for improvements.
Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking and ability.
Good oral and written communication skills in English.
Must be able to work effectively from home, with access to internet and phone.
