About
Lakehead University is a comprehensive Canadian institution with campuses in Thunder Bay and Orillia, Ontario. With almost 10,000 students at both campuses, over 1,800 international students representing more than 90 nations call Lakehead home, reflecting a genuinely global campus culture. Internationally, Lakehead offers study abroad exchanges, research placements, language immersion, and internships abroad through its Global ME (Mobility Engagement) program. The Lakehead Global Certificate recognizes students who develop intercultural communication skills and global competency Lakehead University through co-curricular activities — earned at three levels: Global Inquirer, Global Explorer, and Global Citizen.
Extending this international commitment beyond its own students, Lakehead’s Global Youth Experience amplifies youth voices and supports youth leadership in building a healthy, just, and sustainable world — bringing together young people from Commonwealth nations like Fiji, Botswana, Malta, Guyana, and the Bahamas alongside Indigenous and local youth for dialogue, free micro-credentialed courses, and participatory action research.
