Leading the Way: Empowering Female Humanitarian Leaders

In recent years there has been an increased emphasis on gender equality and women’s empowerment in the humanitarian field. Despite this, greater consideration still needs to be given to the experiences of women as humanitarians, the impact that their leadership has in humanitarian response and the barriers they face in achieving leadership roles.
On Tuesday, November 27, 2018, the Canadian Red Cross is hosting Leading the Way: Empowering Female Humanitarian Leaders. The conference will aim to address the gap in female leadership within the humanitarian sector by bringing together speakers from Canadian humanitarian organizations including the Red Cross, Oxfam, CARE, Save the Children and more. The day will involve unpacking challenges, sharing best practices and committing to next steps to move the needle closer to gender equality in humanitarian leadership positions.
