Event Details

Are you between the ages of 15 and 25 with a keen interest in human rights issues and a desire to learn more?

Amnesty’s Human Rights College (HRC) may be right for you! This three-day youth leadership event features activism skills-building and learning workshops, discussions, and taking action. We are now accepting applications from English-speaking youth from across Canada. Closing day for applications is April 10, 2023.

The Human Rights College brings young people together to build skills as empowered human rights advocates and leaders.

  • You will gain knowledge and understanding of Amnesty International’s human rights work and ways of working.
  • You will be ready to take an active role at the Annual General Meeting.
  • You will meet Amnesty members and staff, participate in more workshops, and engage with decision-making that guides Amnesty into the future.

The HRC runs from 3 pm on Tuesday, June 13 to 12 noon on Friday, June 16. The AGM follows and runs from 1 pm on Friday, June 16 to 3 pm on Sunday, June 18. It all takes place on the campus of Carleton University in Ottawa.

Amnesty International is a movement of 10 million ordinary people in more than 150 countries who come together to achieve extraordinary results in defending and promoting human rights. We get discriminatory laws changed and prisoners of conscience released. We’ve helped stop torture, commute death sentences and worked to end violence against women. We are in solidarity with Indigenous peoples demanding that their rights be respected.
