In early December, Global Affairs Canada announced that they would be establishing an Advisory Group to help with the implementation of the CSO Partnerships for International Assistance Policy. The Advisory Group will be composed of ten members, including seven from civil society, and meet three times a year, with the first meeting set for February 2018.
The Terms of Reference for the Advisory Group still need to be determined (by the Group’s members). In essence, however, the Advisory Group will track progress on the implementation of the Policy, take stock of activities planned in support of the policy’s objectives, and adjust action areas as warranted. The Advisory Group will also give shape to an annual (virtual/in person) meeting between GAC and a broader group of civil society organizations, provisionally set for November, which will review implementation of at least three of the Policy’s objectives, discuss evolving CSO challenges and opportunities, and signal back to the Advisory Group the need for any new action areas. The Advisory Group will also help set the parameters for annual reporting on the implementation of the Policy.
