About the Opportunity

The Development Coordinator – Leadership Giving strengthens donor relationships and enhances fundraising efforts by securing gifts, engaging supporters, and executing personalized stewardship strategies. Key responsibilities include cultivating and soliciting new and existing donors, managing donor communications, and preparing compelling stewardship materials such as thank-you letters and impact reports. The coordinator also develops donor engagement plans, supports social media and campaign content, and coordinates events and donor field visits.

Beyond direct donor engagement, the coordinator contributes to fundraising content, corporate and employee engagement initiatives, and donor data management in Raiser’s Edge NXT. They ensure accurate and timely donor records, support online fundraising content updates, and assist with research to enhance donor strategies. This role requires expertise in relationship fundraising, donor stewardship, and fundraising databases, with ideal candidates bringing nonprofit fundraising experience, strong communication skills, and a strategic approach to donor engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

Relationship Fundraising & Donors Engagement (70%)
– Secure current and future gifts and cultivate relationships with both existing and new donors, including those in the Community Engagement Portfolio, primarily through phone calls and donor meetings, supplemented by emails, mail, and targeted campaigns. Engage donors through the stages of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
– Coordinate and support the Development Assistant – LG in preparing and executing impact-focused stewardship for LG donors, including letters and reports that are compelling, accurate, professional, and aligned with our brand for individuals, corporations, and foundations.
– Develop and implement an effective donor journey experience and stewardship plan for assigned donors, utilizing multiple-channel touch points.
– Create one-on-one donor engagement plans to express gratitude, showcase impact stories, and maintain regular communication to foster a sense of belonging and encourage increased involvement.
– Cultivating relationships with assigned donors is vital for nurturing a strong donor base.
– Securing new and re-engaging lapsed donors, particularly those contributing up to $4,999/year.
– Preparing and sending personalized stewardship materials, such as thank-you letters, impact reports, and recognition items, to assigned donors. The goal is to acknowledge their support, demonstrate impact, and strengthen ongoing relationships.

LG Content Donor Engagement Content Development Support (10%)
– Assist for LG Communications, with a focus on social media platforms.
– Develop LG/PG content, particularly for LG e-blasts and year-end campaigns.
– Collaborate and work with Comms team on online fundraising platforms content update.
– Manage events, donor field visits, including webinars.

Corporate and Employee Engagement (10%)
– Work with current and new employee/public engagement campaigns, attend meetings, third-party events and give presentations as required.
- Manage and engage, CE leads and respondents to CFTC CE campaigns

Research and Information Management (5%)
– Ensure all notes from all donor engagement from calls, emails, gifts and events are entered into Raisers Edge NXT in an accurate and timely manner for the assigned donor portfolio and in support of the LG Portfolio.

Other (5%)
– Development of PG content and prospect engagement/stewardship
– Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
– 2–4 years of experience in fundraising within the non-profit sector.
– Undergraduate degree or higher, and/or a Community College certificate in fundraising or equivalent relevant experience.
– Proven ability to cultivate and maintain strong donor relationships, with a successful track record in soliciting gifts.
– Strong understanding of the Canadian non-profit landscape and international development issues.
– Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, particularly in phone and email donor engagement.
– Ability to thrive both independently and as part of a dynamic team.
– Strong organizational, budgetary, analytical, and strategic planning skills.
– Confident in delivering compelling presentations and representing the organization at events.
– Demonstrated leadership, initiative, diplomacy, attention to detail, and creativity.
– Effective and persuasive donor stewardship via phone is essential, requiring excellent interpersonal and relationship management abilities.

Technical Proficiency:
– Advanced experience with Raiser’s Edge NXT.
– Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, calendar management, and web browsers.

– Willingness and ability to lead donor events, represent the organization at engagements, and travel as required.
– Comfortable working in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.

– CFRE Certification: Holds or is actively working toward a CFRE designation (an asset).
