Background
The Inter-Council Network (ICN) is a dynamic network of provincial and regional member-based Councils for International Cooperation committed to social justice and social change. Rooted in communities across Canada and representing nearly 350 international cooperation organizations, the Councils are leaders in public engagement at a local and regional level and are recognized for bringing regional knowledge and priorities to the national level. The ICN provides a forum in which the Councils collaborate to improve development effectiveness, learn from each other’s specific skills, and identify common priorities for collective action.
Objectives
Through this training program, the ICN aims to strengthen the capacity of council members and other international cooperation sector actors to use decolonial, anti-racist and feminist approaches in public engagement.
Scope
The ICN seeks a trainer to deliver training modules on decolonial, anti-racist and feminist approaches in public engagement based on the findings and recommendations from ICN’s Research Project on these approaches. The modules have been developed to facilitate trainings for the ICN’s Capacity Strengthening Program with members of the international cooperation sector in Canada and international partners. The selected trainer will deliver virtual workshops in four/five days. The days will be split into two half days. The trainer will work closely with the provincial councils and the ICN team who will coordinate all logistics, registration, participants and other issues related to the workshops.
Learning approaches and Materials
The selected trainer should ensure that the workshops are participatory, follow best practices of adult learning and follow the training guide to ensure standardization of content and quality across the country. The selected trainer will use modules developed by Quake Lab in coordination with the ICN.
Requirements
The trainer will have:
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience of decolonial, anti-racist and feminist approaches.
- Understanding of/training in adult learning principles
- Demonstrable experience delivering workshops in an adult learning environment.
- Experience facilitating workshops in virtual spaces.
- An understanding of public engagement in the context of international cooperation sector
- Familiarity with Canada’s international cooperation sector.
- Ability to deliver modules in English.
