Water for Peace

Event Details

The global water crisis currently affects one-third of the world’s population, and by 2025, two-thirds of the world’s people could face water shortages. The global water crisis requires concerted action driven by local and sustainable solutions.

The Rainmaker Enterprise will host the first annual Water for Peace Cocktail Reception at the Spoke Club in downtown Toronto on June 2nd, 2018. Water for Peace gathers humanitarians, peace activists, environmental champions, and industry leaders to connect, learn, and act on the water crisis while raising funds for the Rainmaker Enterprise.

The event features keynote remarks by Lieutenant-General (retired) the Honourable Roméo Dallaire, whose humanitarian work through the Roméo Dallaire Child Soldiers Initiative prevents the use of children as weapons of war. 2018 Havel Prize-winning recording artist Emmanuel Jal will deliver the lead performance, sharing his inspiring journey from South Sudanese child soldier to acclaimed artist and activist, and message of a future of freedom and hope in South Sudan. The Honourable Cecilia Adeng will bring remarks as the Deputy Permanent Representative of the Republic of South Sudan to the United Nations. The event will be MC’d by Ziya Tong, award-winning host of the Discovery Channel’s Daily Planet.

All funds raised are in support of the Rainmaker Enterprise’s sustainable and scalable water projects in South Sudan. The organization, which installs solar-powered water infrastructure for safe human consumption and sustainable agriculture, has gained the recognition of the United Nations Environment Programme in its first year of operation.

Event tickets are $200 each, with $150 eligible for tax receipt provided by the Rainmaker Enterprise’s charity partner, the Canada-Africa Partnership Network.
