Event Summary

Season 2 of Unsettling Knowledge Inequities podcast launches!

Event Details

How was the global consensus on open science internationally negotiated and defined? What does it mean for open science to go beyond open access and open data — to openness to diverse participation, knowledge systems, languages, and outputs? How can open inclusive infrastructures be designed to enable equitable knowledge sharing?

These are some of the questions we will explore in Season 2 of the Unsettling Knowledge Inequities podcast presented by SPARC and the Knowledge Equity Lab. Launching next Tuesday, September 14th, this series will be released on a bi-weekly basis until November 19th2021.

Season 2 will explore key themes from the ‘UNESCO Recommendation on Open Science’, and feature diverse participants and stakeholders who contributed to the development of the recommendations. Conversations will also highlight efforts to: advance open, equitable, community-driven infrastructure; cultivate knowledge democracy and plurality; nurture bibliodiversity and multilingualism; and amplify Indigenous and early-career knowledge perspectives — across different cultural, organizational, and geographic contexts.
