The Volunteer’s Role
Are you passionate about supporting local community NGOs make lasting change in their communities?
As an Enterprise Advisor, you will support Women's Resource Outreach Centre in building a resilient social enterprise to generate income for community members and it's training programs. Women's Resource & Outreach Centre (WROC) provides life skills training and educational programs to inner-city youth with the goal of economic empowerment. WROC has been offering services to its community members for over 20 years and is committed to gender equality and women's empowerment. Overall, you will support WROC to develop their social enterprise to make them more sustainable in their offerings to their communities.

As a volunteer, you will:
- Support the development of the framework for the social enterprise by:
i) Reviewing the strategic plan and attend strategic meetings with board members.
ii) Research local legislation that relates to social business development.
iii) Review governance and operations structure of local social enterprises in Jamaica
- Support the development and execution of:
i) Idea generation
ii) Opportunity recognition
iii) Concept development
iv) Identifying and accessing local, regional and international resources that may be used
v) Co implement and co-manage WROC’s Pilot Social Enterprise
- Assist in the development of the monitoring and evaluation framework for the social enterprise:
i) Establish Tracer Systems
ii) Generate Social Rate of Return on Investments
iii) Generate Rate of Return on Investments
iv) Measure effectiveness of Creating Social Value
-Training of staff in Enterprise Management.
Essential Academic Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s Degree in Business Development
Essential Professional Background:
-Experience in working with groups, preferably community based groups
-Excellent communication skills
-Excellent oral and writing skills
-Knowledge skill and experience in human rights-based methodology and gender sensitivity
-Experience working in organizational development/planning
-Experience in developing business plans
-Experience in managing social enterprises
-Strong teamwork skills
