Brief Description:
Crossroads International is an international development organization that is working towards reducing poverty and increasing women’s rights around the world. Working with local partners in 28 projects, in eight countries and supported by hundreds of volunteers each year, Crossroads leverages expertise and resources, North and South, required to help people overcome poverty and assert their human rights.
boMake Rural Projects (formerly Gone Rural boMake)
boMake Rural Projects, a non-profit organization (NGO) in Swaziland, was founded in 2006 by Gone Rural (Pty) to assist its producers-762 rural women and their communities with education, health and social needs. Gone Rural provides a regular source of income generation to the women and boMake complements this by implementing social programs reaching over 6,000 people. By implementing education, health, women’s empowerment and community development projects, boMake supports the economic development of women and their communities. Asides from direct services delivery such as paying school fees for 360 orphaned and vulnerable children (OVC’s) annually, providing clean drinking water in 10 communities and creating access to a mobile wellness clinic for more than 2000 people, boMake also trains women on gender based violence, women’s rights and leadership skills. To date the organization has installed 22 boreholes , constructed 8 community halls, 4 Pre-schools, 4 libraries across 52 communities and supports artisan dependants each year with school fees and psychosocial services.
boMake Rural Projects organizational planning and HR processes fall under the management structure of governance: Board, Executive Director, Program Director, Project Officers, and Administration. A needs assessment was done in 2017 which led boMake Rural Projects to focus on 3 thematic areas: Health (including WASH), Education, and Sustainable Livelihoods. These are now being implemented in a 5 year Strategic Plan that was developed In February 2018.
POSITION DETAILS
- Develop a fundraising strategy for boMake Rural Projects in line with thematic areas
- Identify funding and donor opportunities locally and globally
- Prepare funding applications and train local staff on proposal writing
- Measuring return on social Investment
- Build on existing donor relations
Qualification criteria for selection include:
- Bachelor Degree or Diploma in related field
- Experience and indepth knowledge of how to solicit funds from international organisation
- Experience working in a similar environment (NGO)
- Read and commit to the CCIC Leaders’ Pledge on Preventing and Addressing Sexual Misconduct
- Experience working with project based funding
- Excellent verbal and writing skills in English
- Strong interpersonal skills and exposure to the developing world
- Experience working in a Culture centric environment
- Previous experience in the craft industry and working with artisan groups is an added advantage
- Experience working with rural population some of whom have low levels of literacy
