Full Description

Brief Description:

The Ontario Council for International Cooperation (OCIC) is an expanding community of Ontario-based international development and global education organizations and individual associate members working globally for social justice.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the OCIC Regional Retreat Coordinator, will work closely with OCIC staff, Board Directors, volunteers, members, key partners and funders to support the coordination and impact evaluation of a unique in-person Retreat to be held in Ontario in October 2023.

The Retreat is envisioned as an extraordinary bilingual opportunity for over 20 youth, educators and civil society actors from small and medium sized-organizations (SMOs) from across Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada to come together on Wasan Island to deepen collective awareness, understanding and action towards the FIAP Action Area focused on the Environment and Climate Change, the UN International Decade for Action on Water 2018-2028, and follow-up actions on the UN 2023 Water Conference.

The Retreat will invite participants to tap into and learn from collective wisdom and efforts, and to share and co-create initiatives, strategies and aspirations for the future.

The ideal candidate for this role is a bilingual (English/French) community builder and coordinator with strong interpersonal, communications and organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse groups. They have knowledge of adult education principles, approaches and values, and are excited to facilitate groups of adult learners. Program coordination and conference planning, event logistics, public engagement and communications are their passion, as are issues of water, sanitation and health (WASH), climate change mitigation and adaptation, and the environment.

This is a virtual position with periodic in-person meetings in Toronto. Candidates must be located in Ontario, with preference to those in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
