War Child Canada works in Afghanistan, Iraq, Jordan, Sudan, South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda.
Position summary
The Grants Officer is responsible for supporting the monitoring and reporting of all project grants, in accordance with grant management processes and compliance requirements. The Grants Officer supports the development of new budgets and tracks budgets and spending, providing grant administration according to donor requirements.
Responsibilities
Job Responsibility #1: Project budget monitoring and reporting (40%)
Supports the completion and timely submission of accurate financial reports for institutional donors including managing the reporting timeline
Supports the process of project budget monitoring and cost allocations
Assists in the development of new donor project budgets as required including budget narratives
Organizes and facilitates the administrative start and end of new grants including organizing grant opening and closing meetings
Assist with the coding of invoices and Expense Reports
Job Responsibility #2: Grants Administration (25%)
Responsible for contract and project administration, ensuring proper record keeping for all donor contracts, correspondence, reporting, audit reports and close-outs.
Arranges payments and transfers to country offices as needed in accordance with spending projections
Compiles and monitors restricted revenue payment reports and conducts reconciliations as needed
Job Responsibility #3: Budget Development (25%)
Supports the development of new project budgets and budget narratives for institutional funding sources aligned to donor requirements, in liaison with the International Programs team
Maintains country-level budgets in liaison with the field teams, Senior Grants Analyst and Grants Manager
Job Responsibility #4: Project Compliance (10%)
Supports donor compliance requirements to help ensure that grants and allocations are implemented in compliance with relevant donor contracts and War Child Canada policies, regulations, established standards and allowable costs.
Monitors and tracks all contractual obligations to ensure project compliance
Qualifications
Education
Degree in finance, accounting, business, public administration, international development or relevant subject.
Experience
Minimum of one year’s experience within a finance related position
Experience of the NGO, charitable or non-profit organization desirable.
Knowledge and Technical Skills
A high level of excel skill and spreadsheet competency.
Ability to analyse data, with excellent analytical and problem solving skills and strong attention to detail.
Strong organisational skills including the ability to simultaneously manage multiple priorities.
