The Volunteer’s Role
Gender equality is a cross-cutting theme in all of Cuso International's programming. In Honduras, we work with a variety of partners who work directly on gender equality and social inclusion,

ANDI as one of our partners through the economic development of women, with training from different companies, the rights and empowerment of women, is essential for the growth of each one of them, as well as the fight against violence. against women and marginalized populations in the country.

As a gender advisor, you will work with ANDI to help companies achieve gender equality and social inclusion objectives by incorporating a gender perspective in the different companies

As a volunteer, you will:

Support to the companies that make up the ANDI in Honduras to ensure mainstreaming in gender equity
Analysis and review of Institutional Gender Policies and the Institutional Strategic Plan in order to align regulatory instruments.

Essential Requirements:

University degree in social, economics, international development and/or equivalent experience in a related field

Essential Background:

Knowledge/experience in Gender Equality: planning, administration processes, planning, strategy design
Knowledge/experience in research teaching, training and/or facilitation processes
Knowledge/experience applying participatory approaches and tools
Demonstrated experience of working in a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary team

Project - Sharing Canadian Expertise for Inclusive Development and Gender Equality (SHARE)

Cuso International will deliver the Sharing Canadian Expertise for Inclusive Development and Gender Equality (SHARE) project, with a contribution from Global Affairs Canada (GAC) over seven years (2020-2027). SHARE aims to improve the economic and/or social well-being of the poorest, most marginalized and vulnerable people, particularly women and girls, in developing countries, with a view to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals. In addition to increasing engagement of Canadians in international development and key global issues, this project will aim to increase the performance of country partners to deliver more inclusive, innovative and environmentally sustainable development initiatives that advance gender equality, in support of the action areas of Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy.

Partner - Asociación Nacional de Industriales

The National Association of Industrialists of Honduras (ANDI) was founded on 1958 in Tegucigalpa thanks to the initiative of a group of entrepreneurs and emerged as a response of the industrial sector to the establishment of unions that after the strike of 1954 and during the regime of Ramón Villeda Morales had become very strong.

As a non-profit entity, with national projection, ANDI's role is to represent and support companies in the industrial sector, ensure their rights and promote the solution of problems that generally or particularly affect their development. They focus their work with the purpose of strengthening the sector through proposals, management and industrial development services, priding itself as a solid, participative and ethical institution. ANDI is recognized for its leadership in promoting competitiveness and for its impact on the sustainable and integral development of Honduras.

ANDI's principles are:

- To promote national production and defend the rights and interests of the industrial sector.

- To promote respect for human dignity, private property and production within a regime of free enterprise.

- To promote and contribute to the establishment of a close relationship between the industrial sector and the other members of the business community as well as the remaining sectors of Honduran society in order to achieve a permanent dialogue and the greatest possible understanding in the interests of democracy and development.

- To collaborate with the small and microenterprises of Honduras through the development of their productive capacities and the incorporation of this sector to the formal economic task.

Prestaciones
Terms and Conditions
Cuso International terms and conditions allow you to lead a modest and healthy lifestyle while being effective in your placement. This support package will cover basic living expenses for one volunteer and is not intended to cover home-based expenses (ex. loans, support payments, etc.) or luxury items such as imported items in placement or international personal travel.

Cost of required vaccinations, antimalarial medication, and health insurance
Pre-departure training, in-country orientation, and reintegration debriefing, including travel and accommodation (more details below)
On the ground support through our Cuso International country program office
Access to Employee Assistance Program while in placement and upon return
Bonus: Additional return flight home or cash in lieu after 12 months of service for volunteers who extend for another 6 months

Please note that if you are shortlisted for the placement, you will be required to:
Provide two Professional References and one Personal Reference
Complete an oral assessment during your preliminary telephone interview in the language required for your placement
Obtain a Police Check at our request
Complete a full medical exam and be medically cleared by the Cuso International Medical Advisor prior to your departure

Fundraising

We ask each volunteer, regardless of placement length, to raise $2,000. All volunteers receive support from Cuso International to help achieve the goal through fundraising. If the volunteer chooses not to fundraise or is unable to achieve the fundraising goal, he/she can make a one-time donation or become a monthly donor to support our work.
