OVERVIEW:
Uniterra is a leading Canadian international volunteer cooperation and development program, jointly implemented by the Centre for International Studies and Cooperation (CECI) and World University Service of Canada (WUSC).
Uniterra contributes to improving the socio-economic conditions of poor and marginalized communities in 14 countries and with over 200 partners in Africa, Asia and the Americas through the exchange of expertise and knowledge of Canadian and international volunteers. Uniterra believes that economic growth, when inclusive, is the most powerful driver of poverty reduction. The purpose of the Uniterra program is to improve the lives of some of the world’s most vulnerable populations by stimulating growth and facilitating access to the benefits of growing and diversified markets. To make this happen, we are working with our local partners to enhance the income of poor and marginalized women and youth through better access to employment and income generation opportunities. Uniterra country program staff work with our local partners to design Uniterra assignments in the context of the country strategy, supporting the inclusion of women and youth in key economic subsectors.

PARTNER DESCRIPTION:
Agriculture Non-State Actors Forum (ANSAF) is a member-led forum involving organizations and individuals from the commercial sector, non-governmental organizations (both Tanzanian and international) and farmers’ groups in Tanzania. It is a forum for non-state actors to discuss and work towards solutions to improve agricultural practices, and to support the interests of men and women living in poverty. ANSAF seeks to coordinate efforts to influence policy and practice in crucial areas affecting smallholder farmers and other stakeholders through research, learning, communication and advocacy.
ANSAF has four main objectives: sharing and promoting learning among agricultural sector actors; promoting proven and innovative practices within the sector for wider understanding and consideration by farmers, policy makers and other stakeholders; developing a shared and common understanding of the challenges, threats and opportunities that the sector faces; and developing common positions and joint actions toward influencing policies and practices that hinder the sector’s development.
To meet these objectives ANSAF, its members and other stakeholders conduct advocacy work and lobbying to ensure the existence and implementation of agricultural policy and systems which help the poor. All advocacy agendas are developed through research to ensure that they are evidence-based. The target group for this advocacy is decision makers, both at the national and local level.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Working closely with communications staff to review the organization’s website and update existing content to better represent services provided;
- Providing training to staff on the website features and guidance for updating content;
- Linking the website with social media platforms to expand information sharing;
- Develop a guiding document defining key information for ongoing website maintenance;
- Ensure the inclusion and representation of youth and women in all aspects of work;
- Write reports required by ANSAF and the Uniterra program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree in Communications or relative experience
- Experience with web design and the use of various software
- Experience developing and implementing training programs
- Adaptability and ability to work in multicultural teams with flexibility and creativity.
- Respectful of local cultures in different working environments.
- Excellent communication skills.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Applicants must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada between the age of 18-70.
- Departure date is contingent upon the timely completion of all administrative requirements (e.g. visa processes, medical clearance, police checks, travel documentation).
- With the support of the program, all volunteers shall undertake to make a minimum financial contribution of $1,500 for participating in the program.
