Interested in volunteering or working in humanitarian or disaster response? Take part in this unique training opportunity to help prepare you for the field.

The training program is designed to simulate a complex humanitarian emergency that requires a comprehensive understanding of war, natural disasters and forced displacement, and the impact of cultural contexts on the affected populations. Students are immersed in the simulation for the whole weekend, working in multidisciplinary, NGO-based teams, each tasked with a series of activities serving the fictional populations. Teams must find dynamic solutions to complicated problems including security incidents, mass displacement, child soldiers, environmental shocks, limited resources, supply issues, assessments and donor relations.

Students apply their skills in areas specific to humanitarian response including: health, WASH, food, shelter, security and protection. They also use core humanitarian principles to coordinate the emergency response; this includes running meetings and applying global standards for all areas of humanitarian response.

Registrations are still open, early bird special extended until October 1.
