International Development Week 2016

OCIC marks International Development Week (IDW) 2016 with 10 days of activities undertaken by the Council, our members and friends to increase awareness of Canadians’ contributions to international cooperation, to celebrate and share achievements, and to encourage the active engagement of us all, as global citizens.

IDW is an annual public engagement initiative led by Global Affairs Canada to increase awareness of Canada’s contribution to international development.

From February 8-12, 2016 we will be sharing profiles of OCIC’s seven inspiring 2016 Global Changemaker Youth Ambassadors through our communications channels, and invite you to join us and #TellEveryone which of the 17 new Global Goals for Sustainable Development you are most passionate about at @ocictweets #IDW2016 #TellEveryone.

Transformations: Stories of Partnership, Resilience and Positive Change in Nepal Exhibit Launch – Toronto

Transformations is a collaborative multi-year photojournalism initiative intended to increase dialogue and further understanding of international partnerships that address complex global challenges. In our latest exhibit we invite you to learn about the work of Women for Peace and Democracy-Nepal, and World Accord, to empower marginalized women, and their communities.

Join us in seeing how women in rural Nepal have re-built their homes and lives following the devastating 2015 Nepal earthquake, and are transforming their communities through long-term socio-economic development programs. The stories presented were documented by OCIC and Allan Lissner, Praxis Pictures, during a visit to Nepal in December 2015.

Monday February 8, 2016 from 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM
Metro Hall, 55 John Street, Rotunda
